Our album will be on sale if they allow us to peddle it during the show.

Sunday, August 20, 2006 - The New Album is Out!

Update 26/08/06: Andrew, the Music Man at Music Magic, Central Market has agreed to take a consignment of 10 copies. So if you're interested in getting a copy of the album, it's going for RM15. The full address of Music Magic is:

Music Magic
M26, Mezzanine Floor
Central Market
Jalan Hang Kesturi
50050 KL
Tel: +603-2274-6649

Update 24/08/06:
Think.com.my has published a recent interview with the band, you can read that article here. You can also read the full script which features Adrian (yea he was also there) at the downloads section.

We have finally finished it. We are planning to seek the permission of Music Magic, Standing Wave Studios and other places still in consideration, to leave a few copies. We'll sort that out by 31st August, our official release date.

In the meantime, we're meeting people we can meet, sending out press kits and updating our online presence(s) about the news.

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 - Next Release: Latest Update

Update 12/7/06: Ooops late again. Production is kinda clashing with Fern's release, since Meng is doing work for both but we will be picking up a first draft of the mix this week. So in short, the new album is delayed again. Sorry for those of you who have been waiting. We are still targeting for a July release. Good thing it has 31 days.

Update 13/6/06: The first track will be called 'Track *'. In case you haven't noticed, the new album will be an amalgamation of the previous EP and the new songs.

We have finally completed recording the new songs. Yay-hoo. The songs will be featured in our upcoming eponymous album and they are (not necessarily in order):
  1. track *
  2. blood
  3. the waiting room
  4. mint
  5. malady
  6. everyone and you
  7. the wistful
  8. catch-22
  9. dealing with minors
  10. sunrise, rampart
Mixing and mastering will be next and we hope to have a release on the 1st of July to coincide with a wedding we're playing for. Yea sell em' from the back of our car boots or something.

Malady, the album's most accessible track was played on traxx.fm 2 weeks ago, as part of a feature publicising works in progress by local artists. For that we thank Siang from Umbrella Records.

Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - Next Release

Update 26/11/05: We've finished recording most of the music and the vocals for one of the song is done. However, I don't think we'll make the Christmas deadline. Oh well, it's not the first time I've been late. :P

The band were back in the studio during Adrian's short stint home, working on 5 new songs. Adrian has since gone back to the States, leaving with us completed bits of drumming. The rest of us will now do our parts and complete the songs. As usual, Ben, Keith and I are writing one each and we'll be collaborating on another 2. There's a re-working of a tune from our first EP, Take a Powder, so watch for that. We're shooting for a Christmas release.

We also had the opportunity to have some pictures taken by a photography hobbyist (can I call him that? dunno). Tommy was looking to snap pictures of a band as part of a personal project of his. He takes his pictures in black & white and doesn't like using flash. Who does anyway? I'll find some time to post some pictures soon.

Thursday, April 07, 2005 - Longdrawn 3 (STAR Review)

Excerpts from today's STAR about us (what? who me? self-absorbed?):

"...evidently showing the appreciation indie audiences have for bands that are willing to experiment.

This was certainly the case with relative novices A Mantle the Sea. As much as Longdrawn's concept leans heavily on elaborate sets from bands, it also places emphasis on blooding new acts.

A Mantle the Sea, armed with a non-existent gig portfolio, four songs and a grammatically fractured name, was determined to convert the 120 people present to believers of their strum-heavy R.E.M.-like sound.

Yet, despite obvious chinks in song-writing arrangements and the lack of Michael Stipe-like stage presence, the band's willingness to risk dabbling with a largely unfashionable sound must be commended."

Erm... it's not a good review is it? Anyway, you can read the rest of the article here.
