Excerpts from today's STAR about us (what? who me? self-absorbed?):
"...evidently showing the appreciation indie audiences have for bands that are willing to experiment.
This was certainly the case with relative novices A Mantle the Sea. As much as Longdrawn's concept leans heavily on elaborate sets from bands, it also places emphasis on blooding new acts.
A Mantle the Sea, armed with a non-existent gig portfolio, four songs and a grammatically fractured name, was determined to convert the 120 people present to believers of their strum-heavy R.E.M.-like sound.
Yet, despite obvious chinks in song-writing arrangements and the lack of Michael Stipe-like stage presence, the band's willingness to risk dabbling with a largely unfashionable sound must be commended."
